Suan Lum Night Bazaar is Closed!

Welcome to Suan Lum

For the last 10 years, Suan Lum Night Bazaar was the famous night flea market right after Chatuchak Weekend Market. Travellers are able to embrace a Thai Flea Market without having to wait till the weekend to rub shoulders with other shoppers under the hot environment at Chatuchak Market.

Suan Lum was located in Pathum Wan District, where the Rama IV & Wireless/Sathorn intersection meets and besides Lumphini Park. You’ll be able to see a huge night market, when you exit through MRT Lumphini Station. Vendors will start to open their shops from 5pm in the evening till early wee hours in the morning.

Beautiful lights at Suan Lum Night Market

It was rather quite comfortable to do a bit of shopping at night, as wide array of cute gifts, up to date fashion clothes, attractive jewelries and lady accessories, handmade Thai tapestries, fine arts, paintings and sculptures were the items tourist would love to bring home for their loved ones. The covered area were show casing Thai handicrafts, artworks, furniture, home décor, art, fashion clothing, CDs and DVDs.

After shopping, you can just chill and relax at the centre courtyard garden with inside and outside garden seating, food stalls & rows of beer stalls which offers beer buffet at a cheap budget surrounded this beer garden. Every night, music will be heard from the stage with nice pop bands singing Thai tunes and dancing to the beat.

Experience Thai traditional show with Joe Louis Puppet Theatre Thai puppet troupe that give performances of the RamakienThailand‘s national epic.

The lease for this night bazaar was till March 31, 2006, ever since then, the bazaar was operating on borrowed time, as plans of office buildings, retail areas, up market residential condominiums and entertainment complexes are to be developed.

The developer of Suan Lum Night Bazaar has bought a big piece of land on Ratchadaphisek Rd. They plan to build a large mixed-use development, called Ratchada Night Bazaar. Most of the bazaar vendors will move to this new location. At this moment, there is an existing, rather large Ratchadaphisek-Ladprao night market is running every night. It will also be integrated in the new mall/market.

It was a sad moment, when Suan Lum Night Bazaar finally had to be shut down after repeated postponements, forcing hundreds of shop owners to be relocated to other venues.

New Siam Paradise Night Bazaar

Siam Paradise Night Bazaar is a new night market located at Sukhumvit 101/1, which opens its doors in January 2011, is quite similar to Suan Lum and is getting a lot of attention lately and gaining popularity among locals and tourists. Given some time, it will eventually regenerate the Thai flare market atmosphere with new vibes as before.
